We are along established small animal practice in Sheffield. Your pets are our priority and our skilled team of veterinarians and vet nurses are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for your animals. Because we love animals and strive to provide excellent continuity of care, we are open seven days a week and have access to 24-hour emergency care.
Nicola has always had an interest in animal care; she joined Hunters Bar in 2009 as an animal nursing assistant but soon became interested in becoming a qualified nurse. She completed a diploma in animal care with a distinction and then went on to begin her veterinary nurse training, qualifying in September 2014. She became Deputy Head Nurse in 2015, and is currently Head Nurse covering Carrie’s maternity leave until the end of 2017. Her particular interests are feline care, anaesthesia, nurse clinics and medical nursing. In her spare time she enjoys sketching, cooking, cycling, walking, going to the cinema, visiting friends and family and holidays abroad. Nicola has one cat at home called Cassius.
Carrie Togwell RVN
Head Nurse (currently on maternity leave)
Carrie joined the practice in 2010. She has worked in various small animal and mixed practices over the past several years in the North of England. Carrie qualified as a RVN in September 2009. She has a broad range of interests in the veterinary field from radiography to puppy parties and is now studying for her diploma in medical and surgical veterinary nursing.
The majority of her spare time is spent trying to tire out her two energetic dogs Bert and Mabel by running them across the Peaks. Carrie also has a one-eyed cat called Mog and chickens called Duracell and Sage.
Jess Corbridge RVN
Jess joined Hunters Bar Vets in September 2011 as a student veterinary nurse and passed her final exams in January 2017. Previously Jess had been a volunteer at Cliffe Kennels walking rescue dogs; she also enjoys grooming dogs for friends.
Jess has a few pets of her own including two cats called Boots and Foggie and a rabbit called Kisses. She also has a special interest in dog behaviour and enjoys drawing and art in her spare time.
Alex Crisp RVN
Alex joined the practice in 2012 and especially enjoys laboratory and theatre work. He has a diploma in tropical habitat conservation which he earned whilst volunteering in Madagascar and Tanzania. There he completed flora and fauna surveys, tracked large mammal numbers and caught snakes! Although Alex doesn’t have any pets at the moment he has a fondness for birds and has kept Budgerigars in the past. He loves the great outdoors and in his spare time enjoys playing video games.
Student Veterinary Nurse
Hetty joined Hunters Bar in September 2015 as a student veterinary nurse and is currently studying at The College of Animal Welfare. She enjoys all aspects of her job but is particularly interested in medical nursing and emergency and critical care. Hetty has two dogs, a Jack Russell Terrier called Jimmy and a Dachshund cross called Reggie. Hetty can usually be found wherever there is a Jack Russell, and her colleagues often refer to her as the crazy Terrier lady! In her spare time Hetty enjoys adventuring with her dogs and spending time with family.
Student Veterinary Nurse
Christina is currently studying a foundation degree in veterinary nursing at Askham Byran college. Her particular interests include emergency and critical care and eventually she would love to work within an animal hospital. In her spare time Christina enjoys horse riding, shopping, visiting friends and supporting the Sheffield Steelers. She has three rescue cats named Sasha, Pixie and Mia as well as a rabbit named Bella.
